This handcrafted black maple burl fountain pen captures a striking balance between natural complexity and modern elegance. I lathe-turn the dyed and stabilized wood to reveal a dark, swirling grain that resembles a landscape of shadows, ensuring each contour of the pen feels comfortable and balanced in the hand.
To bring out the hidden fire within the dark wood, I apply ten meticulous layers of cyanoacrylate finish. I then polish the surface to a mirror-like shine, creating a glass-clear lens that magnifies the intricate ripples of the burl and provides a durable, high-gloss barrier. This finish creates a beautiful contrast against the deep obsidian tones of the dyed maple.
I equip each pen with a German-engineered #6 JoWo medium-point nib, renowned for its exceptional consistency and smooth ink flow. From the first turn of the lathe to the final polish, I craft this instrument to be more than just a writing tool—it is a sophisticated piece of functional art designed for those who value both style and performance.
Ink Refill
This fountain pen will accept short international standard ink cartridges, and also comes with a high quality Schmidt piston converter so you can use any bottled fountain pen ink. To refill the ink, simply unscrew the metal section behind the nib.

Care Instructions
To make sure your Black Maple Burl Fountain Pen lasts for years, follow these simple care instructions.
First, protect the pen from its environment. Wood is a durable, natural material, but it can still react to extreme conditions. For this reason, avoid exposing your pen to harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures, and don’t leave it in a car on a hot day. Similarly, avoid storing the pen in a humid basement. While the finish is designed to protect the pen, extreme heat, cold, humidity, and sunlight can all negatively impact its appearance and integrity. However, if you keep your pen indoors in a climate-controlled environment, I reasonably expect you will not encounter any problems for the lifetime of your pen.
Additionally, store and clean your pen properly. When you aren’t using the pen, store it in the provided gift box or a protective pen sleeve to preserve its finish. Finally, periodically clean your pen with a soft, damp cloth.
