I’m Todd, and I create original handmade wooden pens in my woodshop in beautiful Waddle, Pennsylvania.
I think wooden pens are just beautiful! The natural grain lines and colors are magnificent. And the handmade wooden pens I make write so much nicer than the ones I can buy at the store. I journal quite a bit, and so I really appreciate writing with a nibbed fountain pen. I swear that a nice, heavy pen somehow makes my handwriting better. The ink flows out with the lightest touch and dries on the page so cleanly. This personal writing has proven meaningful and transformative, and the beautiful writing piece makes the activity even more enjoyable.
The art of authentic hand written communication is overdue for a comeback.
After I first started making pens, a friend commented on my pen and so I made one for him. I told him what kind of wood it was made from and what ink it uses, but really I was hoping that the one-of-a-kind item would inspire him to write something unique.
And so I kept making pens. Each one teaching me something new about pen crafting. Above all, I believe that each pen I make is a potential opportunity for someone else to be creative and to write something she didn’t expect to write.
